Pollution of the Internet
working group

mcww.toxic is an open working group aimed at artists, art students, researchers and educators who are working on digital phenomena and are actively interested in collective knowledge exchange.  Together we will explore the implications, mechanics and aesthetics of the current rapid changes of internet spaces, which in many cases could be described as pollution: digital gentrification, AI-slop, bot-content, mass-surveillance, the return of skinny tumblr and deteriorating mental-health. At the same time, we would like to examine strategies, interventions, and positive developments that aim to foster more inclusive, creative, and exciting digital environments. At the heart of the programme is a shared dialogue from which we (individually or collectively) develop works on this year's theme. Our aim is to produce a zine featuring these collaboratively produced creations.
